Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) – Part 2
Continuing from the previous mailout about the first Khalifa of Islam, this is part 2 about Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) and briefly mentions some incidents and qualities of this great leader of Islam.
  1. Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) purchased the land for Masjidun-Nabawi from his own wealth on the instruction of Rasulullaah (SAW). ‘Usdul-Ghaabah’
  2. Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) was the personal bodyguard of Rasulullaah (SAW) during the Battle of Badr and protected him from the attacks of the Mushrikeen. ‘Ibn Hishaam’
  3. Rasulullaah (SAW) would consult with Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) and often his opinion would be in accord with the opinion of Rasulullaah (SAW). ‘Musnad Ahmad’
  4. When the Sahabah were scattered after the surprise attack of the Mushrikeen in Uhud, Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) was amongst those who remained firm by the side of Rasulullaah (SAW). ‘Muslim’
  5. Rasulullaah (SAW) appointed Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) as commander of the army on the first day of fighting during the Battle of Khaibar. ‘Bidaayah wan Nihaayah’
  6. During the Battle of Tabuk, he donated all his wealth to Rasulullaah (SAW) and said, “I have left Allaah and His Rasul for my family.” ‘Tirmidhi’
  7. Rasulullaah (SAW) would seek his counsel and often confide in Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA). ‘Tabqaatul Kubraa’
  8. Rasulullaah (SAW) often defended Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) from the criticism of others. ‘Bukhaari’
  9. Rasulullaah (SAW) praised the Imaan and sacrifices of Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) and enumerated his virtues. ‘Ibid’
  10. Rasulullaah (SAW) appointed Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) as the leader of Hajj in the ninth year after Hijrat. ‘Fathul Baarie’
  11. During the final pilgrimage, Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) and Rasulullaah (SAW) rode on the same camel. ‘ibid’
  12. In the last days of Rasulullaah’s (SAW) life, he ordered Sayyidina Abu Bakr (RA) to lead the Salaah in his absence and when others objected, Rasulullaah (SAW) said,
يَأْبَى اللهُ وَ الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ اِلَّا اَبَا بَكْرٍ
“Allaah and the Muslims will deny everyone except Abu Bakr (RA).”
