The punishment of miserliness

Allah Ta’ala says: “And let not those who covetously withhold of that gifts which Allah has given them of his grace, think that it is good for them. Nay, it will be worse for them, soon it will be tied to their necks like a twisted collar, on the Day of Judgement…”

Asma binti Abu Bakr Radiallahu anha narrated that the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said to her: “Do not shut your money bag; otherwise Allah will withhold his blessings from you.”

In another version: “Spend and Allah will spend on you.”

Abu Huraira Radiaalhu anhu narrated that the Messanger of Allah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said: “Two angels come down (from the heaven) and one of them says, ‘Oh’ Allah! Compensate every person who spends in your cause’, and the other (angel) says, ‘O’ Allah! Destroy every miser.'”
